Low-Carbon & Recycled Aluminium

ECOlogicAL low-carbon aluminium and REcycAL recycled aluminium are produced using modern, environmentally friendly processes and meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability. AFC offers the following products:

The following table provides an overview of the carbon footprint of our low-carbon aluminium alloys compared to the average emissions figures for European and global aluminium production. Our alloys are characterised by significantly lower CO₂ emissions per tonne of aluminium profile, thereby making an active contribution to the decarbonisation of the industry. All figures are based on current data and refer to emissions calculated using the cradle-to-gate approach. Corporate Carbon Footprint

In 2021, we further stepped up our efforts to reduce emissions and were officially certified as a climate-neutral company. However, our commitment goes beyond certification – we are constantly working to further minimise our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF):

  • Precise CO2 analysis
    In collaboration with Climate Partner, our CO2 emissions are calculated and analysed in detail.

  • Effective reduction strategies
    We focus on energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy, promote digital work processes to reduce paper consumption, and optimise our travel and mobility strategies to minimise emissions.

  • Offsetting
    We offset unavoidable emissions by investing in certified climate protection projects that contribute to reducing greenhouse gases and protecting ecosystems.

Corporate Social Responsibility

As a company, we bear responsibility not only for our own actions, but also for our fellow human beings and the environment. CO2 Roadmap 2050 with Production Partners

Our aim is to significantly reduce CO2 emissions by 2050, including those generated by our production partners. This ambitious vision requires close collaboration and innovative approaches to promote and implement sustainable production methods. Our focus is on the full implementation of the following points:

  • Increasing the proportion of scrap metal and maximising the use of low-carbon alloys.

  • Using 100% recyclable packaging materials.

  • Using only renewable energy sources.

  • Targeted investments to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

We are firmly committed to doing our bit for climate protection and shaping a sustainable future. With our CO2 Road Map 2050, we are sending a clear signal in support of environmental protection and demonstrating that economic success and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

What options are available to AFC’s customers, suppliers, prospective clients and partners?

In your products, consistently opt for low-carbon alloys with a carbon footprint of just 4 kg – or, on request, as low as 0.9 kg – per kilogram of aluminium, compared to the market average of 15 kg CO2e. You can also source your products from regional suppliers within Europe. In doing so, you will make an effective contribution to reducing CO2 emissions by more than 75%!
